The Les Paul Tribute™ PLUS is powered by legendary Gibson USA ’57 Classic humbucker pickups which even include a vintage style “Patent Applied For” decal each pickup’s base plate. The Mahogany neck has a 1960s SlimTaper ‘D’ profile with a 24.75” scale, a Pau Ferro fingerboard with ‘mother of pearl’ trapezoid inlays, 22 medium jumbo frets, and a 12” radius. The Mahogany neck is hand-fitted and glued-in with a Vintage “Deep-Set neck joint that extends well into the neck pickup cavity, creating maximum neck-to-body contact so the Les Paul Tribute resonates as a single piece of wood. The Epiphone Les Paul Tribute™ PLUS has a Mahogany body with a solid, carved Hard Maple AAA Flame top for incredible tone and a strikingly beautiful instrument. Featuring a AAA Flame Maple veneer top, Gibson USA ’57 Classic™ humbuckers w/Push/Pull Series Parallel Switching, Mallory tone capacitors, Switchcraft™ electronics, Grover™ Locking Machine Heads, and a Premium Hard Case. Otherwise, it sounds nice and seems to be a nice compliment to my existing guitars. The Epiphone Les Paul Tribute™ PLUS Outfit is the ultimate Les Paul with a combination of custom features at an incredible price. Of course if someone knows what the difference is, I'd be curious to find that out. The store guys are a little confused.Īnyway, the Tribute Plus was in my range and after playing a couple others just to make sure, I decided to get the Plus. They also had another 1960 Tribute Plus in the same color as the non-Plus (the orange top) but it was about $50 cheaper than the non-Plus. The store had a 1960 Tribute (no plus) for $250 more and other than the color, it seemed to be exactly the same as the Plus so they couldn't tell me, and I still haven't found what the difference is. I eventually tried the Les Paul Standard and the 1960 Tribute Plus.

I was ready to buy today because of the bank account thing and wandered over to play a couple of Epiphone's before pulling the trigger on one. I've tried a few of the Les Paul guitars. I did try a couple of Paul Reed Smith guitars but didn't like the thicker neck at the base. I've been poking about and playing the different guitars around town to see which one I like from feel and from the sound. I'm closing one of my bank accounts down and have just enough to splurge on a new guitar.
